Recently, a university student made a post on a social media platform doubting the qualification of a Peking University's doctoral supervisor. The claimant, who claimed to be qualified for continuing education as postgraduate student, said the professor did not graduate from a well-known university in China. The student also asserted that some Peking University's teachers are not as shining in terms of diplomas - that even teachers from Shenzhen Middle School in South China's Guangdong Province are superior in this regard. The post went viral, sparking hot debates online. A diploma from top universities cannot necessarily prove whether or not a person is qualified for a certain job. As a matter of fact, the fact that the above-mentioned professor can teach in Peking University does prove he must have real distinction. In any case, students are encouraged to raise questions. However, being arrogant won't help. The question raised should be reasonable, and open mind needs to be kept.
